FRESHMAN YEAR (2009-2010)
FALL
ENGL 100P: English Composition, Public Affairs Scholars
Due to the multitude of writing assignments, this class pushed me to develop a more refined writing style in relation to each assignment's goals and allowed me to view writing as a means of social change. In addition, I conducted research on street prostitution in Baltimore City, the different methods to combat this problem, and the role on non-profit organizations in the support of sex workers.
GES 120: Environmental Science and Conservation
BIOL 100: Concepts of Biology
GWST 100: Introduction to Gender and Women's Studies
This class allowed me to develop a better understanding of roles, images and experiences of women, while analyzing media, literature and everyday interactions relating to the social construct of gender. Furthermore, this introductory course motivated me to declare Gender and Women's Studies as my primary major.
